Some basic knowledge can make your guitar more "healthy". In order to maintain good condition and sound, as well as a longer life, I believe you already have some knowledge of maintenance and conditioning, and here we mention some taboos about the guitar, five things that must be avoided:
1.Do not expose the guitar to extreme temperature and humidity changes
Guitar is mainly made of wood, is wood will be affected by the temperature and humidity. Extreme temperature and humidity changes can cause deformation of the wood, sometimes with very obvious consequences, which can affect the sound and condition of the guitar. The ideal temperature range is 19-25°C and the ideal humidity is 40-50%.
2. Do not use water for cleaning
Cleaning with water is a very bad method, guitars are not waterproof, this will not only damage the finish and wood, but also the circuit parts.
3. Do not use soap, furniture polish and glass cleaner
These daily cleaning products will more or less cause irreparable damage to your instrument, and some seemingly harmless wood cleaning and maintenance agents, such as Billi Pearl, contain ingredients that are harmful to the guitar's finish. We only recommend you to use those guitar-specific cleaning products.
4.Do not use paper towels to wipe
Paper towels are not exactly soft, and wiping your guitar with them will sand numerous tiny swirly marks on the finish. Try to use cotton as well as microfiber fabrics for daily cleaning.
5. Do not use canned compressed gas
Often people use canned compressed gas to clean circuit boards, but for guitars this is something to absolutely avoid. Not only will it further blow dust into the guitar, the liquid that may drip during use will also damage the guitar's finish.
Before you try new supplies to care for your guitar, it is best to take more time to consider them and consult a professional musical instrument technician if you encounter any uncertainty. Scientific care of your guitar, it will be in better condition to accompany your musical life.
